Get involved ...

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." .....................................................Attributed to Edmund Burke, 1770.

County Democratic Party Contacts

There are all kinds of ways that you can become involved in local Democratic politics:

Vote. Only half of South Carolinians are registered to vote. And of those, only half vote. That means only about 25 percent of people who can vote are actually participating in free elections for which our ancestors fought and died. (See Register to Vote section above.)

Organize your neighborhood. Meet with members of your precinct to build a local Democratic presence.

Join. Visit with Georgetown-area Democrats at the next Executive Committee meeting (see Calendar for next meeting).

Canvass. Canvass neighborhoods and get people to register to vote.

Give. Contribute money to help the county party push its mainstream message.

Write a letter. Write a letter to a local newspaper. Remember to make your letter timely, make your points clearly, support your facts and be concise. Type your letter and include your name, address and phone number.

Volunteer. You can always volunteer to help the local party or volunteer with a local candidate.

Phone. Call into wacko talk radio shows when they spread inaccuracies, lies or misinformation. Don’t be shy – Speak Up!

Advertise. Put a campaign yard sign in your yard or a bumper sticker on your car.

Monitor. Attend local government meetings and let your leaders know when they’re right and when they’re wrong.
